Due to new restrictions, we will not be doing Enrichment during the Autumn Term. Instead we have been doing Nature Studies, Current Affairs and Media Studies.
Summer 1
During our Current Affairs lesson, we learnt about Prince Phillip. He created the Duke of Edinburgh Award to support, develop and reward children. We decided on what we wanted to reward people for and created our own medals.
As it was St. George’s Day, we learnt about his story and how people celebrate.
It was Election Day and our nursery was used as a Polling Station so we discussed how we eletc people and what we wanted from the people we elect.
In Current Affairs this week we have been preparing for next week's swimming lessons. We looked at pictures of the swimming pool and discussed what we would be learning. We also watched videos from the 2012 Olympics which took place at the very swimming pool we will be learning at. We are very excited to go now!
During our Current Affairs lessons, we have been watching CBBC Newsround and Espresso News Bites to learn about the world around us and what is happening in it.
For Healthy Eating Week, we learnt about how to keep our bodies healthy. We then created adverts to persuade others to keep their bodies healthy.
We learnt about Nelson Madella and Rosa Parks as it is Black History Month.
This week was Mental Health Week and discussed what we should do to reduce our anxiousness. We have discussed how our bodies react when we are too stressed.
We have been learning about poverty and homelessness in the world around us and the ways that we could help others.
To start our half term, we learnt about Bonfire Night, Guy Fawkes and how to keep safe around fires and fireworks.
After our Great Fire of London recreation, we learnt about the London Fire Brigade and how to keep safe in the home. Fireman Sam has some great videos teaching us how to keep safe.
This one is about smoke alarms and the correct way of testing them.
We have also learnt about the US presidential election and how to vote.
