Can you complete the Mission Grove Reading Challenge?
Many children at Mission Grove love reading, and everyone loves to choose what books they'd like to read. To encourage children to read regularly at home, we have given each child from Year 1 to Year 6 a 'bingo card' of different text types. The children choose a book to read from each category, and when they have finished reading they write the title of the book, and give it a rating out of 5 stars. Teachers, Miss Kent and Miss Jennings will be asking questions to check that the children have read and understood the books.
Year 1 & 2 need to read 30 books, while Years 3-6 need to read 40 books. These can be from anywhere: home, school, BugClub, the local library - even bought at charity shops.
Every child from Year 1 to Year 6 is challenged to complete the bingo card before the end of the Spring Term. Once the card is finished, they can bring their card to their teacher. If they are able to talk about the books they have read, they will receive a prize - their very own book to keep!
Congratulations to Abdullah from Kingfisher, Sam from Bullfinch and Taha from Goldfinch who have completed their bingo cards already! They have chosen a book each to keep. Well done!
Make sure you keep reading - you have until March 29th to complete this term's card.
Happy Reading - and Good Luck!
