As part of our learning how we should care for others, Year 2 enjoyed an outdoor session in the playground this week linking their RE with outdoor learning. We learnt to build a Jewish sukkah, a temporary hut constructed for use during the week-long Jewish festival of Sukkot. The children used cardboard boxes and topped it with branches, leaves as these structures are often decorated with autumnal, harvest or Judaic themes.
Many people believe the festival of Sukkot is a time to remember those who are poor by giving meals and shelter and donating money (tzedekah).
