Our Science topic for Summer 1 is Plants.
To start our topic, we had a fun science day when we planted seeds, identified different plants using a key, learnt about the different parts of plants and examined different seeds.
We have also learnt about germination. We cut up fruit and vegetables found seeds and planted them between wet tissue.
This week, we learnt about seed dispersal.

Each day, we have been watering our plants. Some of them are really starting to grow!
This week we have been learning about how animals are adapted for their environment.
This half term we are learning about Habitats.
We identified things that are living, dead and have never been alive.
We have looked at the processes that all living things do and had great fun singing our song.
This week we are learning about what habitats are and what they provide for the animals and plants that live in them.
We have also learnt about the different types of habitats and where they are in the world.
We searched the wildlife area of microorganisms and learnt about microhabitats.
We have been learning about the adaptations of animals and plants and how these help the them to survive in their habitat.
Have a look at some of these videos:
We heard that Dr Matt is planning to send camels to the Arctic so we explained why he shouldn't. Some of us made a video and some wrote letters.
We have also been learning about how animals depend on each other and how we can affect the world around us. We discussed the bad things that some people do that hurt habitats and the animals that live in them and during our Art lesson, we created posters about bees to persuade people to look after them.
This half-term we are learning about Materials and their Properties.
To help us learn, we have been singing this song.
