I hope you had a nice weekend and are ready for our final week of learning before Christmas. Today’s lessons will be at 9.00 (Literacy) and 1.00 (Numeracy). If you have any questions or are not able to access them, please let me know.

    Grammar
Can you practice matching these root words to the correct suffix?

What other words have these suffixes?

    Handwriting
Last week, we learnt another rule for making present tense verbs - we doubled the final letter and added ing. Can you follow that rule to change these into the present tense?

We also learned how to drop the e and add ing. Can you change these verbs into the present tense using that rule?

This week, we are going to be learning another rule for adding ing to verbs. Use the correct sizing to copy the ing join multiple times.

Today’s rule is about adding ing to words that end in y.

I would like you to create your own 2020 Time Capsule. A time capsule is a shoebox that you hide objects, letters or other items from one time and place and open it much later. You can add objects that have been important to you this year, hide the time capsule and open it in a few years. It will be nice for you to see what your life was like during isolation in 2020.
What could you hide in your 2020 Time Capsule:

    • Photos
    • Newspaper cuttings
    • Letter to yourself saying what you are doing, how you are feeling and your likes or dislikes
    • Prediction of what you think the future will be like
    • Significant objects (clean mask, picture of your favourite toy)

This afternoon, we will have a live lesson. I have sent an email with the link to the parents whose email addresses I have and added it to the children's email accounts. If you did not receive a link or have any queries or questions please email yeartwo@missiongrove.org.uk. I will be recording this lesson and adding it to our channel so you can watch it back.

    Reading
Use the picture to help you answer these questions.

What clues are in the picture which help you? Using your own experiences or your memories of Christmas movies, what do you think the answers are?

    Religion and PSHE
Christmas is celebrated in different ways in different countries.
In Australia, people eat seafood and visit the beach.

In Norway, people swap presents on Christmas Eve and decorate their tree with heart shaped paper baskets.

In Japan, people book their KFC dinner two months in advance as it is so sought after.

Can you research two countries and create a fact file about how Christmas is celebrated in each one? I have already included a suggestion for subheadings and layout. You need to make sure that you are writing in clear sentences with correct punctuation and spelling.

    Hello Goldcrest!

    Emails and Passwords

Please email yeartwo@missiongrove.org.uk to let me know if your child's new email address or other learning passwords are lost or not working.

    Online Teaching

I will be emailing links to each session to the emails I have for parents and guardians from Parent's Evening. If you do not receive an email, please check your junk folder and then email me at yeartwo@missiongrove.org.uk. I have also added invites to the calendars in children's emails that they should be able to use to join online teaching.
Using these teams and channels, I will be sharing resources and tasks. Learning for lessons that will not be live taught will be put on the website.
I will be recording live teaching sessions so that children can watch them later. If this is a concern please let me know and turn your webcam off.

Tomorrow at 9.00, 1.00 and 2.50 I will be running some online teaching sessions. Please try to login so we can practise using the software.

This is very new so please let me know if there are any technical difficulties and I will try my best to fix them.

    Goldcrest Suggested Isolation Timetable

When live teaching begins on Thursday, this is how the day will be timetabled. I have highlighted the times that I will be online teaching though this is subject to change as the situation develops. Some other sessions will also be taught online and I will add the timetable to the website each morning.

    Thank you,

    Hello Goldcrest!
Unfortunately, you, Miss Kida and Miss Meryem must now isolate. I will still be in school and teaching you online. Please ask your parents to sign up for online teaching on the app so we can start as soon as possible. Your first day back will be Friday 18.12.2020 which is the last day of term.

Please send pictures of your home learning to yeartwo@missiongrove.org.uk so I can see all of your wonderful hard work.

This week we will be learning about Money.
Can you ask your adults for some coins from their purse (or even use lots of slips of paper with 1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1 and £2 written on them) and make some amounts with them?
Can you make the same amount in different ways?

Why don't you play this online game now? You can pick the coins that you want to use. Start with 'up to 10p' or 'up to 20p' and move yourself up if you are confident and getting all of the questions correct.
