  • Spring Week 4 (25th - 29th January)

    Friday 29.1.2021

Can you believe we have almost completed our 4th week of Home Learning! That calls for a celebration - so when you've finished today treat yourself by doing something you love - that could be listening to a song, playing with your favourite toys or telling someone what has made you proud of yourself this week. We love to know what you're doing so why not send us an e-mail telling us what you're enjoying after finishing your school work. I have been enjoying visiting the two new rabbits on South Site and watching them nibbling their favourite healthy, green leaves!

    Maths 10am

Today we'd like you to answer some word problems. They are multiplication questions, and you can use the repeated addition or grouping methods that we have looked at this week to find the answer. The questions are at the bottom on the page.

    Literacy 12pm

The sculpture robbery was the shocking event of the week in our story about Claude and Sir. Bobblysock. You have been planning your newspaper reports with eye-catching headlines, time connectives, exciting vocabulary, images and captions.

Now we'd like you to publish your work using the layout of a newspaper, like this.

    French

Miss. Zanon has put together a wonderful video all about birthdays for our learning this week.

    Big Garden Bird Watch

This weekend lots of people will be watching outside to count the birds they can see near their homes. On CBBC they have shown a Winterwatch lesson to teach you all about how to spot wildlife around your home this winter. There are lots of fun quizzes on the website, including a Which Garden Bird Are You? quiz. Here is an ID card - can you spot any of these birds from your window? You can find out more about the feathered visitors here

    Thursday 28.1.2021

Hi everybody! I hope that you have all been using our online learning platforms this week.

    Maths (10.00)
In maths this week we are learning about multiplication. We have learnt about arrays, repeated addition and today we are learning about groups of.

Can you now complete these questions and send a picture to yeartwo@missiongrove.org.uk? You can make the groups by drawing arrays or even out of objects in your house.

    Literacy (12.00)
Yesterday we planned our newspaper report. Today we are going to use the plan we created to write a newspaper report about the robbery.
Important: We are not retelling Claude’s day or trip to the museum. We are writing the main events of the robbery.
    We need to include:

    • catchy headline
    • past tense
    • third person - he, she, it
    • the main events - who, what, where, when, how
    • time connectives

As always we need to include lots of description:

    • expanded noun phrases and commas (small, white, happy dog)
    • ly adverbs (quickly)
    • with, who, which to give extra information (gallery which is at the top of a steep hill).

Extra Extra: Could you use paragraphs to help organise your writing?

Other - Goose and Goldfinch (2.00)
Yesterday, Goose and Goldfinch had a museum session about Florence Nightingale and Mary Seacole. They will be doing Science today.

The food that we eat is important for keeping us healthy.

Create a healthy meal with fruits and vegetables, carbohydrates, proteins, dairy and a small amount of fats and sugars. You could write a menu, help an adult make a healthy lunch or dinner or even draw the contents of a lunch box or plate.

Other - Grouse and Goldcrest (2.00)
Yesterday, Grouse and Goldcrest did their Science lesson about food. They will be doing the museum session next week and today will be doing Topic.

We are going to pretend to be Florence Nightingale and write a diary entry about when you arrived at the hospital in the Crimea. What was the hospital like? How did you feel? What did you decide to do?
