World Book Day - 06.03.25
All the children looked great in their World Book Day outfits - well done!
In the afternoon, we were fortunate to sharpen our catching skills in Tag Rugby with Coach Paul in the brand-new MUGA!
In Art, we have been looking closely at the work of the artist, Andy Goldsworthy. The children were inspired by images and examples of his work and tried to recreate it with the natural resources that were available to them. This tied in very well with the book of the week Errol's Garden. A little boy discovers an area at the top of his flat that he recreates into a rooftop garden. He was helped by the residents of the flats and worked together as a community. Chaffinch worked well together to add their ideas of a rooftop garden on a roll of paper.

Pancake Day (Shrove Tuesday) - 04.03.25
Shrove Tuesday is the day before 40 days of Lent.
Lent is meant to be a time of sacrifice, in honour of Jesus who spent 40 days fasting in the wilderness. It takes place on a different Tuesday each year but it is always 47 days before Easter Sunday. Lent is a time when people give up something. When asked, children in Chaffinch class would give up chocolate or sweets!
STEAM WEEK - Mon 10th March - Fri 14th March 2025
Chaffinch were excited to be involved in many activities for STEAM Week, along with helping to create a gigantic Snakes & Ladders game. Chaffinch parents will be able to play this game with their child on Wednesday 19th March from 8.45 - 9.30am.

Making 'Gloop' (Cornflower, water & food dye). After mixing it together, it becomes dry when you try to pick it up or move it but becomes a liquid and drips when it falls from a spoon!
