Year 5 and Year 6s were very lucky to have a Composition Workshop led by London Sinfonietta.

The children focused on Composition Challenge 1: Postcard Pieces 

The Postcard Pieces challenge is inspired by American composer James Tenney who wrote Postal Pieces in 1971. Saying that he hated writing to his friends, he decided to create short musical compositions for them instead. 

The workshop was great in children developing their wider creative and musical skills.

Children learnt how to compose on their own and with others, to understand how music is created and communicated. They also learnt how to organise and manipulate ideas within musical structures.
